See the abundance of flowers in our mountain world

Put your boots on and take your flower-guide and magnifying glass along. On the Ansatten mountain an almost solemn moment awaits you when you visit the newly discovered flower-mountain. This mountain can surely be considered as important as Jamtlands classic flower mountains Valliste, Snasahögarna and Åreskutan. In 1986, Curt Lofterud guided a three-day count during which 200 species were found above the coniferous timber-line. In the summer of 1988 250 species were found.

It is not only the number of different species that make the flower splendor of the Ansatten so unique. It is the tremendous number of flowers of every single species. There are literally carpets of Mountain Violets and generous amounts of Moor-king and Virgin-Mary-Primroses. Above the ski-slope Mountain Anemones glow like leftover snowdrifts.

The flower trail from Bakvattnet to the peak of the Ansatten (1090 m above sea level) is 6 km long. It leads you along forest slopes, through wetland areas, mountain-birch forest and over rocky landscape above timber-line. Along the trail you will find information posts, and up on the peak you can write your name in the guest-book after having enjoyed the breath-taking view. The hike can easily be done in one day but if you want to take more time for all the flowers there are nice campsites everywhere. If you have more time at hand you can also visit the old mountain village of Ansattenbyn where you can still wade through tall-growing herbs. Let your thoughts wander back to the old mountain farmers and imagine their lives.
